Worship God, Love People, Transform Lives
To be the church that inner-city Millennials want to be a part of and that impacts the community
Worship God, Love People, Transform Lives.
A Christ-centered community is inclusive of all people regardless of their background or religious experience that desire a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We believe that authentic community will be both transformative and contagious. Perhaps the greatest need that we see in our culture is the need to belong to a spiritually healthy learning community. Our spiritual, emotional, and mental health begins with our response to the Gospel. We want our love for God and love for each other to be one of the most attractive aspects of our church. The church is the “called out’ community of God. We are to live in such a way that will bring glory to God and expansion to His Kingdom.
We want the Gospel to be at the center of all that we will say and do at NHC. The Gospel of Jesus is a declaration that God has made good on his promise of redemption and restoration in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son. God became man to be offered as the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sin of everyone that would believe in His name. Every person that hears this Gospel to all those that God will send to us. The Gospel is the only real message of hope to both the down and out an d the up and out. We are all united in our need for and dependence on the Gospel
We worship God because that is what we are created to do. Our worship should include deed or action that we take. Our worship does not happen only in church on Sunday. Rather, it takes place wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. This includes having many different expressions of worship such as: marketplace Bible studies and workplace discipleship.
In order to transform the marketplace it is going to require a power greater than any human or natural power. We operate with the understanding that perfect love (Agape) flows from God to us and every place that we share his love. Agape Love has no agenda and only one objective: transformation. Transformation occurs as people receive His love and share it. The power of this love cannot be overstated.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things. Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
God is excellent and He has created us in excellence. Our response to God as creator must reflect this excellence. Excellence in our administration of God’s calling (ministry) must be modeled in everything that we do. Marketplace leaders often disconnect from the church because the church does not seem to move or operate at the same excellence that drives the marketplace. We are committed to demonstrating excellence in e3very aspect of ministry for that reason. We believe that this commitment and example of excellence will transform the marketplace.
We want to teach and model the principles of marketplace transformation. We want to transform the marketplace from centers for profit and trade to places where God’s grace is evident, and available to everyone. Through the modeling, teaching and coaching of marketplace leaders we will strengthen, and encourage and release others to bring about change.
